Cherbourg, May 15, 2025 - The FloWatt project developed by HydroQuest, a world leader in marine tidal turbines, and the energy company Qair, announces that it has received €20 million in funding from the Innovation Fund, one of Europe's main financing mechanisms dedicated to the large-scale demonstration of innovative technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
FloWatt is one of 85 European projects selected by the European Union.
The FloWatt tidal turbine farm project now benefits from joint support from the European Union's Innovation Fund, with funding of €20 million, and French state aid schemes, notably as part of France 2030. This public support will help consolidate the project's economic model.
FloWatt will also benefit from a guaranteed feed-in tariff for the electricity it produces, ensuring long-term revenue visibility. The Manche department has also confirmed its intention to participate in the project's capital.
FloWatt marks a first step in the structuring of a French industrial sector for tidal power and should enable HydroQuest and Qair to position themselves for the first commercial call for tenders for 250 MW expected to be awarded at Raz Blanchard by 2030.
